S.A.F.E.@Home is a program designed for Garland residents with unique communication concerns when interacting with police officers. This includes those with intellectual, emotional, behavioral, and developmental disorders, and residents with specific communication challenges.
The program is NOT for individuals with other medical concerns that do not create these challenges or barriers to communication.
This voluntary program allows family members and caregivers to provide specific information to the Garland Police Department in the event a police officer must respond to their home.
If your loved one becomes missing, officers would be aware of their challenges, residence, and emergency contact to get them home safely.
By working together, we create a community where the needs of ALL of our residents can be communicated, ensuring effective encounters with first responders.
